Cambodia: Country: Health

Nearly one Cambodian child in every seven dies before his or her fifth birthday - the highest infant mortality rate in Southeast Asia. Many of these deaths are caused by water-borne diseases, since nearly three-quarters of rural people have no access to clean water. High rates of malnutrition also contribute to child deaths. With few health services, and most families too poor to afford what medical care is available, overall life expectancy is low.
