Cambodia is quite close to the equator, so its weather is tropical - that is, it is hot and wet, with two main seasons - the wet season and the dry season, plus a short transition time between the two - rather than the four seasons and sharper temperature changes that we have in New Zealand.
The dry season lasts from November to April, with slightly cooler weather, and only occasional rain. During the wet season, from June to October, the monsoon winds come from the south-west, bringing hot, humid weather and heavy rain. About three-quarters of the year's rain falls during these five months. Even then, it hardly ever rains all day, and there are many days when it doesn't rain at all.
