Since his father died, Veasna has had to spend most of his time working in the fields, fetching water, looking after the family’s cow and helping his uncle Sok to collect palm sugar. That means he hasn’t always been able to go to school. Even though he’s older than Navy, he’s in grade 2, two years behind her at school.
When he has free time, Veasna likes playing with his friends. They play football and a game called the money game, where they throw a shoe at a small box of coins. If you can knock out some money, it’s yours.
