Veasna, Navy and Sarath’s mother, Siep is 36 years old. Her husband, Dorn, died six years ago after two years of illness. Now Siep has to try to support her children and parents-in-law, but it is hard, and now Siep has something wrong with her heart. Some days she feels weak and has to rest during the morning.
Usually, though, she spends her day cleaning, cooking and working. In the wet season, she is busy in the fields, growing rice for the family. In the dry season, she makes wall panels out of palm leaves. She can sell these to make a little extra money for food.

Siep is very lucky to have her three older sisters, Seour, Nareourn and Sem living nearby.
Nareourn’s husband, Sok is the only fit, strong man in the family, and he often helps Siep to plough her fields, or gives the family extra food when they need it.
